Psalm 56

Out of the Depths (130)

Be `merciful to me, O God_, for my enemies_ / trample me.

`All day long_, they attack_ and op / press~ me.

My `enemies_ trample me_ / all day long,

for `they are many who fight arrogantly / against me.

`When I / am afraid,

`I will put my / trust in you.

In `God, whose word I praise, in God, I / put my trust.

I `will not / be afraid. • `What can mere_ mortals / do to me?

(Ref)

`All day long they / twist my words.

`All their thoughts are against me for / e~ vil.

`They con / spire and lurk,

`watching my steps. They are eager to_ / take my life.

Shall `they escape in spite of such in / iquity?

In `anger cast the nations / down, O God.

`You_ count my wanderings. You put my tears_ / in your bottle.

Are `they not / in your book? +

`Then my enemies shall turn back in the day_ / that I call.

`I know this: that God is / for~ me.

In `God, whose / word I praise,

`In the LORD, whose / word I praise,

in `God_ I have / put my trust.

I `will not be afraid. What can mere mortals / do to me?

(Ref)

Your `vows are on me, / O~ God.

`I will give thank offerings_ / to~ you.

`For you have delivered me from death, and kept my / feet from falling,

that `I may walk before God in the light_ / of the living.
