Psalm 109

Hear Us, Shepherd (80)

`God_ of my praise, do not re / main~ silent,

`for the mouth_ of the wicked and the mouth_ of deceit have opened / against me.

`They have spoken to me with a / lying tongue.

`They_ have surrounded me with / words of hatred, • • and `fought against me / without cause.

`In return for my love, they ac / cuse~ me;

but `I_ / am in prayer.

`They_ have rewarded me_ evil / for~ good,

and `hatred / for my love.

(Ref)

`Set a wicked person / over him.

`Let an adversary stand at / his right hand.

When `he is judged, let him be / found~ guilty.

`Let his prayer be turned_ / into sin.

`Let his / days be few.

`Let another / take his office.

`Let his children be_ / fatherless,

`and his / wife a widow.

`Let his children be_ / wand’ring beggars.

`Let them be_ driven from their / ruined homes.

`Let the creditor seize all_ / that he has.

Let `strangers plunder the fruit / of his labor.

(Ref)

`Let there be_ no one to extend_ kindness / to~ him,

`neither let there be_ anyone to have_ pity on his father / less~ children.

`Let_ his posterity be / cut~ off.

`In the generation following_ let their name be / blotted out.

`Let_ the iniquity_ of his fathers be remembered / by the LORD.

`Do not let the sin_ of his mother be_ / blotted out.

`Let them always be be / fore the LORD,

`that he may cut off their memory_ / from the earth;

be `cause_ he did not remember / to show kindness,

but `persecuted the_ / poor and needy, • the `broken in_ heart, to / kill~ them.

`He loved cursing, let it / fall on him.

`He did not delight in blessing, and it was_ / far from him.

(Ref)

He `clothed himself with cursing as_ / with his garment.

It `came into his body / like~ water, • like `oil in / to his bones.

`Let it be to him_ as the clothes he wraps a / round himself,

`as a belt that is always a / round~ him.

`This_ is the payment of my adversaries / from the LORD,

of `those_ who speak evil / against me.

But `deal with me_, LORD my Lord_, for your / name’s~ sake,

be `cause your loving kindness is_ good, de / liver me;

for `I am / poor and needy.

My `heart is wounded / within me.

I `fade away_ like an / evening shadow.

`I am shaken off_ / like a locust.

(Ref)

My `knees are / weak through fasting.

My `body is_ / thin and gaunt.

I `have become an object of_ / scorn to them.

`When they see me, they_ / shake their head.

`Help me, / LORD, my God.

`Save_ me according to your / loving kindness;

that `they may know that this is / your~ hand;

that `you_, / LORD, have done it.

`They may curse, but / you~ bless.

When `they arise, they will be shamed_, but your servant / shall rejoice.

`Let_ my accusers be_ clothed_ / with disgrace.

`Let them cover themselves with their own_ shame as / with a robe.

`I will give great thanks_ to the LORD_ / with my mouth.

`I will praise_ him among the / multitude.

For `he will stand_ at the right hand / of the needy,

to `save him from those who_ / would condemn him.
