Psalm 139

I Lift My Eyes (121)

`LORD_, you have searched me, and you / know~ me.

You `know my sitting down_ and my / rising up. • • `You perceive my thoughts_ / from afar.

`You search out my path_ and my / lying down,

and `are acquainted with_ / all my ways.

Be `fore a word is on my tongue_, LORD, you / know it all.

`You_ have en / circled me.

`You have laid your / hand on me.

This `knowledge is be / yond~ me. • • `It is lofty. I can / not attain it.

(Ref)

`Where_ could I go_ / from your Spirit?

Or `where_ could I flee_ / from your presence?

If `I ascend up into heaven, / you are there.

`If I make my bed in Sheol / you are there!

`If I take the wings_ / of the dawn,

and `settle in the uttermost_ parts_ / of the sea,

`even there your hand will / lead~ me,

and `your right hand will / hold~ me.

`If I say_, “Sure_ ly the darkness will_ over / whelm~ me.

The `light around me / will be night,”

`e_ ven the darkness does not / hide from you,

`but the night shines / as the day. • • The `darkness is like / light to you.

(Ref)

`For you formed my / inmost being.

`You knit me together in my / mother’s womb.

I `will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonder / fully made.

Your `works are wonderful. I know that / very well.

My `frame was not hidden from you, when I was / made in secret,

`wo_ ven together in the depths_ / of the earth.

`Your eyes saw me when_ / I was formless.

`In your book_ all my / days were written, +

the `days that were or / dained for me,

`when as yet_ there were / none of them.

How `precious to me are your / thoughts O God!

How `vast_ / is their sum!

If `I would count them, they are more in number / than the sand.

`When I wake up, I am / still with you.

(Ref)

If `only you, O God, would / slay the wicked.

`Get away from me, you who are / bloodthirsty!

`For they speak against you / wickedly.

Your `enemies_ take your / name in vain.

`LORD, do I not hate those / who hate you?

`Am I not_ grieved with those who rise_ / up against you?

`I hate them with_ / perfect hatred.

They `have become my / enemies.

`Search_ me, O God, and / know my heart.

`Test_ me, and / know my thoughts.

`See if there is any wicked / way in me,

and `lead me in the ever / lasting way.
