O Come (95)

I `love you, / LORD, my strength.
The `LORD_ is my rock, my fortress, and_ my de / liverer;
my `God, my rock, in whom_ / I take refuge;
my `shield_, and the horn of / my salvation, • `my_ / strong~ hold.
`I call on the LORD_, who is worthy / to be praised;
and `I am saved_ from my / enemies.
The `cords of death sur / rounded me.
The `floods_ of ungodliness made / me afraid.
(Ref)
The `cords of Sheol were a / round~ me.
The `snares of death_ / came on me.
In `my distress I called_ / on the LORD,
and `cried_ / to my God.
He `heard my voice out / of his temple.
My `cry before him came in / to his ears.
`Then the earth_ / shook and trembled.
`The foundations of the mountains quaked_ and were shaken, because / he was angry.
`Smoke went out_ / of his nostrils. • • Con `suming fire_ came out / of his mouth.
`Coals were / set ablaze.
He `bowed the heavens / and came down.
Thick `darkness was_ under / his~ feet.
(Ref)
`He rode on a cherub, / and~ flew.
He `soared_ on the wings_ / of the wind.
`He made darkness his_ / hiding place, • `his pavilion a_ / round~ him,
`dark_ ness of waters, heavy clouds_ / of the skies.
`At the brightness before him_ / his clouds passed,
`hail_ stones and / coals of fire.
The `LORD_ also thundered / in the sky. • The `Most High uttered / his~ voice:
`hail_ stones and / coals of fire.
`He sent out his arrows, and_ / scattered them.
He `routed them with great_ / lightning bolts.
`Then the channels of_ waters / ap~ peared. • • `The foundations of the world were laid_ bare at your re / buke~, LORD,
`at the blast of the breath / of your nostrils.
(Ref)
`He sent from on high. He / took~ me.
He `drew me out of / many waters.
`He delivered me from my strong / enemy,
from `those who hated me; for they were too_ / mighty for me.
They `came on me_ in the day of my ca / lamity,
`but the LORD was / my support.
He `brought me out into a / spacious place.
`He delivered me, because_ he delighted / in~ me.
The `LORD has dealt with me according to my / righteousness.
Ac `cording to the cleanness of my hands, he has re / warded me.
For `I have kept the ways_ / of the LORD,
and `have not wickedly departed / from my God.
(Ref)
For `all his just decrees_ were be / fore~ me.
I `did not put away his statutes / from~ me.
`I was also blame_ less be / fore~ him.
I `kept myself from my in / iquity. +
`Therefore the LORD has rewarded me according to my / righteousness,
ac `cording to the cleanness of my hands_ / in his sight.
`With the merciful_ you will show yourself_ / merciful.
`With the blameless, you will show yourself_ / blame~ less.
`With the pure_, you will show your / self~ pure.
`With the crooked you will show your / self~ shrewd. +
For `you will save_ the af / flicted people,
`but the arrogant eyes you will / bring~ down.
For `you will light my / lamp~, LORD.
My `God_ will light up my / dark~ ness.
For `by you, I advance_ / through a troop.
`By my God, I leap o / ver a wall.
(Ref)
`As for God, his / way is perfect. • • the `word_ of the LORD_ / proves~ true.
He `is a shield to all those who take refuge / in~ him.
For `who is God, ex / cept the LORD?
`Who_ is a rock, be / sides our God, +
the `God who arms me / with~ strength,
and `makes my / way secure?
He `makes my feet like the feet / of a deer,
and `sets_ me secure_ / on the heights.
He `teaches my_ / hands to war,
`so that my arms bend a / bow of bronze.
`You have also given me the shield of / your salvation.
`Your right hand sus / tains~ me. • • Your `gentleness has / made me great.
`You_ have enlarged my steps_ / under me,
`My feet / have not slipped.
(Ref)
I `will pursue my enemies, and / overtake them.
I `will not turn away until they / are consumed.
`I will strike them through_, so that they will not be able / to~ rise.
`They shall fall_ under / my~ feet.
For `you have armed me with strength / for the battle.
`You have subdued under me those who rose / up against me.
`You have made my enemies_ turn their / backs to me,
that `I might cut off those who / hate~ me.
They `cried, but there was no one / to~ save;
`to the LORD, but he did not_ / answer them.
`Then I beat them small_ as the dust be / fore the wind.
I `cast them out_ as the mire_ / of the streets.
(Ref)
`You_ have delivered me_ from the strivings / of the people.
`You have made_ me the head_ / of the nations.
A `people whom I / have not known
`shall_ / serve~ me.
As `soon_ as they hear of me they shall o / bey~ me.
`Foreign foes_ shall submit themselves_ / to~ me.
`Foreign foes_ / shall lose heart,
and `shall come trembling out_ / of their strongholds.
The `LORD_ lives_! Bles-sed / be my rock.
Ex `alted be the God of / my salvation,
the `God who executes_ vengeance / for~ me,
`and subdues_ peoples / under me.
(Ref)
He `rescues me_ from my / enemies. • You `lift me up above those who rise up a / gainst~ me.
`You deliver me_ from the / vi’lent man.
`Therefore I will give thanks to you, LORD, a / mong the nations,
and `will sing praises / to your name.
`He gives great deliv’rance / to his king,
`and shows loving kindness to_ / his anointed,
to `David and_ / to his offspring,
for_ / ever more.
