O Come (95)

`Why_ do the / nations rage,
`and the peoples plot a / vain~ thing?
The `kings_ of the earth_ / take a stand, • `and the rulers take counsel to / geth~ er,
a `gainst the LORD_, and against_ his A / nointed, saying,
`“Let us break their / bonds apart,
and `cast their / cords from us.”
`He who sits_ in the / heavens laughs.
The `Lord_ holds them / in derision.
(Ref)
Then `he will speak to them_ / in his anger,
and `terrify them / in his wrath:
`“I have / set my King
`on my holy / hill of Zion.”
`I will tell of / the decree:
The `LORD_ said to me, “You / are my Son. • To `day I have become your / Fa~ ther.
`Ask of me, and I will give the nations for_ your in / heritance,
the `ends_ of the earth for / your possession.
`You shall break them with a / rod of iron.
`You shall dash_ them in pieces like a / pot of clay.”
`Now therefore be / wise, you kings.
Be `warned, you judges / of the earth.
(Ref)
`Serve the / LORD with fear,
`and rejoice with / trem~ bling.
`Give sincere_ homage / to the Son,
lest `he be angry, and you perish / on the way, +
`for his wrath will / soon be kindled.
`Bless’d are all those who take refuge / in~ him.
