Psalm 31

In My Distress (120)

In `you, LORD, / I take refuge.

`Let me never be_ / put to shame.

De `liver me in your_ / righteousness. • Bow `down your / ear to me.

De `liver me_ / speedily.

`Be to me a / strong~ rock,

a `house_ of defense to / save~ me.

`For you are my rock_ / and my fortress,

`therefore for your name’s sake lead me and_ / guide~ me.

(Ref)

`Pluck me out of the net that they have laid secret / ly for me,

for `you_ / are my stronghold.

`Into your hand I com / mend my spirit.

`You redeem me, LORD, my / faithful God.

I `hate those who regard_ / worthless idols,

`but I trust_ / in the LORD.

`I will be glad and rejoice_ in your / loving kindness,

for `you have seen_ / my affliction. • • `You have known the troubles / of my soul.

`You have not_ given me into the hands_ of the / enemy.

`You have set my feet_ in a / spacious place.

Have `mercy on me, LORD, for I am / in distress.

My `eye, my soul_, and my body waste a / way with grief.

(Ref)

`For my life is / spent with sorrow,

my `years_ / with~ sighing.

`My strength fails because of my in / iquity.

My `bones are wasted / a~ way.

Be `cause of all my / adversaries

`I_ have become a dis_ grace_  / to my neighbors,

`dreaded by_ my ac / quaintances.

`Those who see me on the street_ / flee from me.

`I_ am forgotten from their hearts like one_ / who is dead.

`I am like_ broken / pottery.

For `I have heard the slander of_ many, terror on_ / ev’ry side,

while `they conspire together against me, they plot to take a / way my life.

(Ref)

`But I trust in / you~, LORD.

`I said, “You_ / are my God.”

My `times are / in your hand.

De `liver me from the hand of my / enemies, • • `and from those who perse / cute~ me.

`Make your face to shine_ / on your servant.

`Save me in your / loving kindness.

`Let me not be put to / shame~, LORD,

for `I have / called on you.

`Let the wicked be_ / put to shame.

`Let them be_ silent in_ / She~ ol.

`Let the lying / lips be mute,

which `speak against the righteous arrogantly, with_ pride_ / and contempt.

(Ref)

`Oh how great_ / is your goodness,

`which you have laid up for those who / fear~ you,

which `you have worked for those who take_ refuge / in~ you,

`in the / sight of all!

`In the shelter / of your presence

`you will hide them from_ / human plots.

`You will / keep them safe

`in a dwelling away from ac / cusing tongues. +

`Praise be / to the LORD,

for `he has shown me his marvelous loving kindness in a city / under siege.

`As for me_, I said / in my haste,

`“I am cut off / from your sight.”

`Nevertheless you_ heard the voice of / my petitions

`when I / cried to you.

(Ref)

`Oh_ love the LORD, all you his / faithful ones!

The `LORD preserves the faithful, and fully repays the / arrogant.

Be `strong, and let your / heart take courage,

`all_ you who hope_ / in the LORD.
