The Heavens Declare (19)

Re `joice_ in the / LORD, you righteous!

`Praise is fitting / for the upright.

Give `thanks_ to the LORD_ / with the lyre.

Sing `praises to him with the harp of / ten~ strings.

`Sing to him a / new~ song.

Play `skillfully_ with a / shout of joy!

`For the word_ of the / LORD is right.

`All his work is done in / faithfulness.

`He loves righteousness and / jus~ tice.

The `earth is full_ of the loving kindness / of the LORD.

`By the word_ of the LORD, the heavens / were~ made:

`all their host_ by the breath_ / of his mouth.

He `gathers the_ waters of the sea together / as a heap.

In `store_ houses he lays / up the deeps.

Let  `all the earth_ / fear the LORD.

Let `all the people of the world_ stand in / awe of him.

`For he spoke, and / it was done.

`He commanded, and it / stood~ firm.

The `LORD_ brings the counsel of the nations / to~ nothing.

He `thwarts the plans_ / of the peoples.

The `counsel of the LORD_ stands_ / fast forever,

the `plans_ of his heart to all_ / generations.

`Bless’d_ is the nation whose_ God_ / is the LORD,

the `people whom_ he has chosen for his own in / heritance.

The `LORD_ looks from heaven. He sees / all mankind.

`From his dwelling place_ he looks out on all who live_ / on the earth,

`he who fashions all_ / of their hearts;

and `he considers all of / their~ works.

`There is no king saved_ by the multitude_ / of an army.

A `warrior is not delivered by_ / great~ strength.

A `horse_ is a vain_ / thing for safety,

`neither does_ he deliver any by his / great~ power.

`But the eye_ of the LORD_ is on those who / fear~ him,

on `those who hope in his_ / loving kindness,

`to deliver them_ / from~ death,

to `keep_ them a / live in famine.

`We have waited / for the LORD.

`He_ is our help_ / and our shield.

`For our heart rejoices / in~ him,

be `cause_ we have trusted in his / holy name. +

`Let your loving kindness be_ / on us, LORD,

since `we have / hoped in you.
