Psalm 37

I Lift My Eyes (121)

`Do not fret because of / evildoers,

`neither be_ envious against those / who do wrong.

For `they shall soon be cut down / like the grass,

and `wither like the / green~ herb.

`Trust_ in the LORD, and / do~ good.

`Dwell in the land, and enjoy_ / safe~ pasture.

De `light yourself_ / in the LORD,

and `he will give you the desires_ / of your heart.

(Ref)

Com `mit your way_ / to the LORD.

`Trust in him, and / he will act.

`He will make your righteousness shine / out like light,

`and your justice as the / noon day sun.

`Rest_ in the LORD_, and wait patient / ly for him.

`Do not fret because of one who prospers / in his way, • the `one who carries out_ / evil plans.

`Cease from anger, and for / sake~ wrath.

`Do not fret; it leads only to / evildoing.

For `evildoers shall be / cut~ off,

but `those who wait_ for the LORD_ shall inherit / the~ land.

A `little while_, and the wicked one will / be no more.

Though `you look for his place, he / is not there.

(Ref)

`But the humble shall inherit / the~ land,

and `shall delight themselves in the abundance / of~ peace.

The `wicked one_ plots a / gainst the just,

and `gnashes at him / with their teeth.

The `Lord_ / laughs at him,

for `he sees that his / day is coming.

The `wicked have drawn out the sword and / bent their bow,

to `cast_ down the / poor and needy, • • to `kill those who are upright / on the path.

Their `sword shall enter into / their own heart.

Their `bows_ / shall be broken.

`Better is the little that the / righteous has,

`than_ the abundance of_ / many wicked.

(Ref)

`For the arms_ of the wicked / shall be broken,

`but the LORD upholds the / right~ eous.

The `LORD_ knows the days_ / of the blameless.

`Their inheritance shall / be forever.

`They shall not be put to shame_ in the / time of evil.

`In the days of famine they shall be_ / satisfied.

`But the wicked / shall~ perish. • • The `enemies_ of the LORD_ shall be like the beauty / of the fields.

`They will vanish, vanish / like~ smoke.

The `wicked borrow, and do / not pay back,

`but the righteous give_ / gen’rously.

`Those who are blessed by him shall inherit / the~ land.

`Those_ who are cursed by him shall / be cut off.

(Ref)

A `person’s steps_ are established / by the LORD.

`He delights_ / in his way.

`Though he stumble, he_ / shall not fall,

`for the LORD_ holds him up_ / with his hand.

`I have been_ young, and / now am old,

`yet I have not seen the right_ eous for / sa~ ken, • `nor his children begging / for~ bread.

`All day long he deals_ gracious / ly and lends.

His `offspring / are a blessing.

De `part from evil, / and do good.

`Live securely for_ / e~ ver.

`For the / LORD loves justice,

`and does not forsake his / faithful ones. • `They_ are pre / served forever,

(Ref)

`but the children / of the wicked

`shall be / cut~ off.

The `righteous shall inherit / the~ land,

and `live in / it forever.

The `mouth_ of the righteous talks of / wis~ dom.

His `tongue_ / speaks~ justice.

The `law_ of his God is / in his heart.

`None of his_ / steps shall slip.

The `wicked / watch the righteous,

and `seek to / kill~ him.

The `LORD will not_ leave him / in his hand,

nor `let him be condemned when / he is judged.

(Ref)

`Wait_ for the LORD, and / keep his way, • and `he_ will exalt you to inherit / the~ land.

`When the wicked are cut off, you / shall look on.

`I have seen a wicked, / vi’lent person

`spreading himself like a green_ tree_ in its / native soil.

`But he passed away_, and behold_, / he was gone.

`I sought him, but he could / not be found.

`Mark the blameless one_, and ob / serve the upright,

`for there is a future for the person / of~ peace.

`As_ for transgressors, they shall be de / stroyed together.

The `future of the wicked shall_ / be cut off.

`But the sal_ vation of the righteous is_ / from the LORD.

`He_ is their stronghold in the / time of trouble. +

The `LORD helps them and / rescues them.

He `rescues them_ from the wicked and_ / saves~ them, • be `cause_ they have taken refuge / in~ him.
