Psalm 38

In My Distress (120)

`LORD, do not rebuke me / in your anger,

`neither discipline me / in your wrath.

`For your arrows have_ / pierc’d~ me,

`your hand presses / hard on me.

There `is no soundness in my flesh because of your_ / indignation,

`neither is there any health_ in my bones because of / my~ sin.

For  `my iniquities_ have gone over / my~ head.

`As a heavy burden, they are too_ / heavy for me.

(Ref)

My `wounds are loathsome and_ / festering

be `cause of my_ / foolishness.

I `am in pain and bowed_ / down~ greatly.

`I go mourning / all day long.

For `my insides are / filled with burning.

There `is no soundness / in my flesh.

`I am faint_ and se / verely bruised.

`I have groaned because of the_ anguish / of my heart.

`Lord, all my desire_ / is before you.

My `groaning is not hidden / from~ you.

`My heart throbs. My strength_ / fails~ me.

As `for the light of my eyes, it has also / left~ me.

(Ref)

My `loved ones and my friends_ stand aloof_ / from my plague.

My `kinsmen stand_ / far away.

`They who seek after my life_ / lay~ snares.

`Those who seek my harm_ threaten ruin, scheme and lie_ / all day long.

But `I_, like a person who is deaf_, / do not hear.

`I am like a silent one who / cannot speak.

`I am like a person who_ / does not hear,

`in whose mouth are / no rebukes.

`For I hope in / you~, LORD.

`You will answer, / Lord my God.

`For I said, “Do not let them gloat / over me,

`or exalt themselves_ over me when / my foot slips.”

(Ref)

For `I am ready / to~ fall.

My `pain is ever be_ / fore~ me.

`For I will declare_ my in / iquity.

I `will be sorry / for my sin.

`But my enemies are vigor / ous and many.

`Those who hate me without reason are_ / numerous.

`They who render evil for_ good ac / cuse~ me,

be `cause I follow / what is good.

Do `not for / sake me, LORD.

My `God, do not be / far from me.

`Hurry to_ / help~ me,

`Lord_, / my salvation.
