Psalm 40

The LORD Reigns (93)

`I_ waited patiently_ / for the LORD.

He `turned to me, and / heard my cry.

He `brought me up out of a pit of / desolation, • • `out_ of the / miry clay.

He `set my feet_ on a rock, and gave me a firm place_ / to~ stand.

`He has put a new song / in my mouth,

`praise_ / to our God.

`Many shall_ / see and fear,

`and shall trust_ / in the LORD. +

`Bless’d_ is the one who makes the / LORD his trust,

`and does not re / spect the proud, • • nor `those who turn a / way to lies.

(Ref)

`Many, LORD, my God_, are the wonderful_ works which / you have done,

`and your thoughts which are_ / toward~ us.

`None_ can com / pare with you.

`If I would declare and speak of them_, they are more than / can be told.

`Sacrifice and offering_ you did / not desire.

`You have opened / my~ ears.

`You have not required_ burnt_ / offering

and `sin_ / offering.

`Then I said, “Behold_, / I have come.

`It is written about me_ / in the scroll.

`I delight to do your will_, / my~ God.

`Your law is with / in my heart.”

(Ref)

`I_ have proclaimed glad news of righteousness_ in the / great assembly.

Be `hold, I will not seal my lips, LORD, / as you know.

`I have not hidden your righteousness with / in my heart.

`I_ have declared your faithfulness and / your salvation.

`I have not concealed your loving kindness and your / faithfulness

`from the / great assembly.

Do `not withhold your tender mercies / from me, LORD.

`Let your loving kindness and your faithfulness always pre / serve~ me.

For `troubles without number have sur / rounded me.

`My iniquities have overtaken me, so that I / cannot see.

`They are more_ than the hairs_ / of my head.

My `heart has / failed~ me.

(Ref)

Be `pleased, LORD, to de / liver me.

`Hurry to_ / help me, LORD.

Let `them who seek to take my life be put to shame_ / and confusion.

`Let them who delight_ in my hurt be turned back / and disgraced.

`Let them be appalled because of / their~ shame,

`those that tell_ me, “A / ha! Aha!”

`Let all those who seek_ you rejoice_ and be / glad in you.

Let `those who love_ your salvation always say_, “Let the LORD_ / be exalted!”

(Ref)

But `I am / poor and needy.

`May the Lord_ / think of me.

`You_ are my help and my de / liverer.

Do `not de / lay, my God.
