Out of the Depths (130)

`As the deer_ pants_ for the / water brooks,
`so my soul pants after / you, O God.
My `soul_ thirsts for God_, for the / living God.
`When shall I come and appear be / fore~ God? +
My `tears have been my food_ / day and night,
while `all day long they ask me, “Where_ / is your God?”
`These things I remember, and pour / out my soul,
`how I used to go_ with the throng, and led them to the / house of God,
`with the voice of / joy and praise,
a `multitude_ keeping a_ / holy day.
(Ref)
`Why_ are you in des / pair, my soul?
`Why are you disturbed with / in~ me?
`Hope in God! For I shall still_ / praise~ him,
`my salvation / and my God.
My `soul is in despair with / in~ me.
`Therefore I remember you_ from the land_ / of the Jordan, • • the `heights of Hermon, from the / hill Mizar.
`Deep_ calls to deep_ in the roar_ of your / waterfalls.
`All your waves_ and your billows have swept / over me.
The `LORD_ will command his loving kindness / in the daytime.
`In the night his song shall / be with me: • a `prayer_ to the God_ / of my life.
`I will ask_ God, my rock_ “Why have you for / gotten me?
`Why do I go mourning be_ cause of the oppression of the / enemy?” +
As `with a sword_ in my bones, my adversaries / taunt~ me,
while `all day long they ask me, “Where_ / is your God?”

`Why_ are you in des / pair, my soul?
`Why are you disturbed with / in~ me?
`Hope in God! For I shall still_ / praise~ him,
`my salvation / and my God.
