In My Distress (120)

Do `you indeed speak righteousness, you / mighty ones?
Do `you judge blamelessly, you children / of mankind?
`No_, in your heart you / plot injustice.
You `measure out the vi’lence of your hands_ / in the earth. +
The `wicked go astray_ / from the womb.
`They are wayward as_ soon as they are born_, / speaking lies.
Their `poison is_ like the poison / of a snake,
`like a deaf_ cobra that_ / stops its ear,
which `does not listen to the / voice of charmers,
`no matter how skillful the_ charmer / may~ be.
(Ref)
`Break their teeth, O God_, / in their mouth.
`Break_ out the great teeth of the young_ / lions, LORD.
`Let them vanish like_ water that_ / flows away.
`When they draw the bow_, let their arrows / be made blunt.
`Let them be_ like a snail which melts and passes / a~ way,
`like the stillborn child_, who has not_ / seen the sun.
Be `fore your pots can feel the heat_ / of the thorns,
`whether green or burning, he will sweep_ / them away.
The `righteous shall rejoice_ when he / sees the vengeance.
`He shall wash his feet_ in the blood_ / of the wicked,
`so that people shall say, “Surely there is a reward_ / for the righteous.
`Surely there_ is a God who judges / the~ earth.”
