Psalm 59

Out of the Depths (130)

De `liver me_ from my enemies_, / my~ God.

Pro `tect me from those who rise / up against me.

De `liver me_ from the workers of in / iquity.

`Save me from the / bloodthirsty.

For, `look, they lie in / wait for me.

The `mighty at_ / tack~ me, • • `not for my_ disobedience, nor for my / sin~, LORD.

`I have done no wrong, yet they are ready / to attack me.

Rise `up, see this, and / help~ me!

(Ref)

`You, LORD / God of hosts,

the `God of / Israel,

`rouse yourself to punish / the~ nations.

`Show no mercy to the / wicked traitors.

Selah.

`They return at evening, howling / like~ dogs,

and `prowl a / round the city.

`Look, they spew with their mouths. Swords are / in their lips,

`“For”, they say, “who / hears~ us?” +

But `you, O LORD_, / laugh at them.

You `scoff at / all the nations.

`Oh, my Strength, I / watch for you,

for `God_ is my / strong~ hold.

My `God will go before me with his / loving kindness.

`God will let me look at my_ ene / mies in triumph.

(Ref)

`Do not kill them, or my people / may forget.

`Scatter them_ by your pow’r, and bring them down_, / Lord our shield.

`For the sin of their mouth, and the words_ / of their lips, • `let them be caught / in their pride,

`for the curses and lies / which they utter.

Con `sume_ / them in wrath.

Con `sume_ them, and they will / be no more.

`Let them know that God_ / rules in Jacob,

`to the ends_ / of the earth.

Selah.

`They return at evening, howling / like~ dogs,

and `prowl a / round the city.

They `wan_ der a / bout for food,

and `wait all night if they are not_ / satisfied.

But `I will sing_ / of your strength.

`I will sing aloud_ of your loving kindness / in the morning.

For `you have / been my stronghold,

a `refuge in the day of / my distress. +

To `you, my strength, I will sing / prais~ es.

For `God_ is my stronghold, the_ God_ / of my mercy.
