`We give thanks to / you, O God. • • `We give thanks_, for your / Name is near.

`People tell about your / wondrous works. 

`You say, “When I choose_ the ap / pointed time,

I will judge_ / blamelessly. +

The `earth and all its / people quake.

I `firmly / hold its pillars.”

Selah.

`“I said to the arrogant_, /  ‘Do not boast!’

`I said to the wicked, ‘Do not lift_ / up your horn.

Do `not lift up your / horn on high.

`Do not speak de / fiantly.’”

For `neither from the east, nor / from the west,

`nor yet from the south, comes / exaltation.

But `God_ / is the judge.

He `puts down one, and lifts_ / up another.

For `in the hand_ of the LORD there / is a cup,

`full of foaming wine_ mixed with spices. He_ / pours it out.

In `deed the wicked of the / earth~ drink 

and `drink it to its / very dregs.

But `I_ will declare_ / this forever:

`I will sing_ praises to the God of Jacob, / who~ says,

`“I will cut off all the horns_ / of the wicked,

`but the horns_ of the righteous shall be / lifted up.”
