Psalm 88

In My Distress (120)

`LORD, the God of / my salvation,

`I have cried_ day and night be / fore~ you.

`Let my prayer_ enter into / your~ presence.

`Turn your ear_ / to my cry. +

For `I am over / whelmed with troubles.

My `life draws / near to Sheol.

`I am counted among those who go down / to the pit.

`I am like one who_ / has no help,

`set apart among the dead_, like the slain who lie_ / in the grave,

whom `you remember / no~ more. • • `They are cut off / from your hand.

(Ref)

`You have laid me in the / lowest pit,

`in the / darkest depths.

Your `wrath lies heavily_ / on~ me.

`You_ have afflicted me with / all your waves.

Selah.

`You have taken my_ / friends from me.

`You have made_ me repulsive / to~ them.

`I_ / am confined,

and `I can / not escape.

My `eyes are / dim from grief.

`I have called on you_ / daily, LORD. • `I have spread_ out my / hands to you.

Do `you show wonders / to the dead?

`Do_ the departed spirits rise_ up and / praise~ you?

Selah.

(Ref)

`Is your loving kind_ ness declared_ / in the grave?

`Or your faithfulness_ / in Destruction?

`Are your wonders made known / in the dark?

`Or your righteousness_ in the land_ of o / blivion?

`But to you, LORD, / I have cried.

`In the morning, my prayer comes be / fore~ you.

`LORD_, why do you re / ject~ me?

`Why_ do you hide your / face from me?

`I have been afflicted and_ close to death from / my youth up.

`While I suffer your_ terrors, I am / in despair.

`Your fierce wrath has gone_ / over me.

Your `terrors have_ / cut me off.

(Ref)

They `came around me like_ water / all day long.

`They completely en_ / gulfed~ me.

`You have put loved one and neighbor / far from me,

and `darkness is my / only friend.
