Psalm 94

Out of the Depths (130)

`LORD God to whom vengeance / be~ longs,

`you_ God to whom vengeance belongs_, / shine~ out.

`Rise_ up, you judge_ / of the earth.

Pay `back the proud what / they deserve.

`LORD, how long_ / will the wicked,

`how long will the / wicked triumph?

They `pour out arro / gant~ words.

`All the evil / doers boast.

(Ref)

They `break your people in_ / pieces, LORD,

`and afflict_ your in / heritance.

They `kill the widow and the / foreigner,

and `murder the_ / fatherless.

They `say, “The LORD_ / will not see,

The `God of Jacob / takes no notice.”

Take `notice, you_ senseless ones a / mong the people;

you `fools_, when will / you be wise?

`He who implanted the ear, will / he not hear?

`He who formed the eye, will / he not see?

`He who disciplines the nations, will_ / he not punish?

`He who teaches / mankind knows.+

The `LORD_ knows the thoughts_ / of mankind,

`that_ / they are futile.

(Ref)

`Bless’d_ is the one_ whom you disci / pline~, LORD,

and `teach out / of your law,

that `you may give him rest_ from the days_ of ad / versity,

un `til the pit is dug_ / for the wicked.

`For the LORD will not re / ject his people,

`neither will he forsake his in / heritance.

For `judgment will return to / righteousness.

`All the upright in_ heart shall / follow it.

`Who_ will rise up for me a / gainst the wicked?

`Who_ will stand up for me against the / evildoers?

Un `less the LORD had / been my help,

I `would have soon lived in the / land of silence.

(Ref)

`When I said, “My / foot is slipping!”

Your `loving kindness, LORD_, / held me up.

`In the many anxious thoughts with / in~ me,

your `comforts / bring me joy.

`Shall the throne of wickedness have fellow / ship with you,

which `brings about_ / evil laws?

They `band together a_ gainst the life_ / of the righteous,

`and condemn the inno / cent to death.

`But the LORD has been my / strong~ hold,

my `God, the rock_ / of my refuge.

`He has brought on them their own in / iquity,

`and will cut them off in their own / wickedness. • • The `LORD, our God, will / cut them off.
